How It Works: The Step-by-Step Process

The machine is a coordinated system of components arranged in a line. Here is the typical work progress:

1.Loading: A heavy master coil is loaded onto the Uncoiler (or Decoiler) using a crane or forklift. The uncoiler's mandrel expands to grip the coil from the inside.

2.Uncoiling & Straightening: The leading end of the coil (the "head") is fed into the machine.

It first passes through a Flattener or Leveler. This is a set of rolls (often small-diameter backup rolls supported by larger rolls) that bend the metal back and forth beyond its yield point to permanently remove the coil curvature (coil set) and create a perfectly flat sheet.

3.Measuring & Feeding: The now-flat sheet is fed into the cutting area by a set of powered pinch rolls.

An encoder measures the exact length of the sheet as it passes through. When the pre-set length is reached, the feeding mechanism stops.

4.The Cut: 

A Shear (typically a hydraulic or mechanical guillotine shear) descends and cleanly cuts the sheet to the exact required length.

The cutting action can be a single cut for each sheet or a "flying cut" where the shear moves with the material for high-speed production.

5.Stacking & Unloading:

The cut sheet is conveyed forward onto a Stacker or Piling Table.

The stacker automatically aligns the sheets and builds a neat, uniform stack (or "bundle").

Once the stack reaches a pre-determined number of sheets or height, it is strapped, and then unloaded for storage or shipment.

Key Components:

Uncoiler/Decoiler: Holds and unwinds the master coil.

Flattener/Leveler: The critical component for removing coil curvature.

Pinch/Feed Rolls: Precisely pull the material through the line.
